After four years, the renovation of the Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage at Rubha nan Gall is complete and the cottage is available for bookings. Located close to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, the secluded cottage provides spectacular views over the Sound of Mull and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and offers a wonderful place to escape and enjoy the wildness of Mull's coastline. The beautiful guest cottage comprises a large kitchen-dining room, cosy lounge, and three ensuite bedrooms, accommodating up to six people.
The cottage is completely off-grid, with water coming from a nearby spring and the sun providing power (with a little help from a generator in the winter months). There is no vehicle access and the cottage is only accessible by foot, along a 2km coastal path, or by boat. Please visit www.rubhanangall.com for more information.
After an incredible few weeks in Andenes, Norway, in January, I'm now back in Iceland guiding Discover the World's 'Orcas and Auroras' trips and taking a welcome break from renovations at the lighthouse cottages. I'll be heading back to Mull soon and hope to complete the building work during the summer.
After a very stormy, but spectacular winter in Iceland, I'm now back on the Isle of Mull continuing renovations of Rubha nan Gall Lighthouse Keepers' Cottages. The cottages have no mains power or water and are accessed by boat or a 25 minute walk, so the logistics of getting materials there are 'interesting'!
